It was dark
On that night we said goodbye
It was hard
It was tough
Never easy
Never enough
I pushed you away
And I meant to
I needed to
I pushed you to something you didn't want to do
I couldn't let my heart open
I've always been scared to show it
It's not perfect in shape or size
(But) it's mine
I pushed you away
I told you to go
I told you "no"
I pushed you to stop all the nonsense
This talk of "us"

Heartache often makes for some excellent lyrics...
Britt and I have been through a lot together.
We make it through okay with: each other, some great music (our own and our influences), and a healthy dose of chocolate.
Some of the best inspiration comes from the worst days.
The one bright spot that comes from heartache, is the incentive to write that inevitably follows. Sometimes it is soon after; other times it takes a while. Eventually, the song will come out. It is a form of closure; it's a relief when we can finally sing about it and detach ourselves from the situation.
So here's to music. To the way that it allows us to cope with the crap just a little bit better.
It is our incentive to create.
