Goodbye

It was dark
On that night we said goodbye
It was hard
It was tough
Never easy
Never enough

I pushed you away
And I meant to
I needed to
I pushed you to something you didn't want to do

I couldn't let my heart open
I've always been scared to show it
It's not perfect in shape or size
(But) it's mine

I pushed you away
I told you to go
I told you "no"
I pushed you to stop all the nonsense
This talk of "us"

It's my turn

Sweet

He told it to me so sweetly
He said that he had fallen for me
I could see it in his eyes
Honesty won that night

....insert explanatory/transitional verse here...

{I won't say it never was
but I won't say it's meant to be
but right here, right now...
It's not for me}

He told it to me so sweetly
He said that he had to leave
He could see it in my eyes
His honesty made me cry

{chorus}

It's not finished. There is something more to the story.

Thoughts?

Burning Bridges

It's been a long time
A long time since I've posted
And a long time since I've written
Now I'm trying to do both
Here's my sad attempt at writing again..

Burning Bridges

I. I take it all back, it was too late at night

The things I said burn in daylight

I changed my mind, I'm in over my head

(need a line)

II. I'm done talking, I'm walking away

Leaving those words where they dropped and now lay

Don't pick em up, I don't mean what I say

I've crossed over, it's comin down, look away.

CH: I'm burning bridges baby

We're on opposite sides

You'll never reach me baby

No matter how hard you try

Cus I'm lookin back

Feelin bad for those lies

But I'm burning bridges

We're on opposite sides

I have a third verse.. but it needs some serious revision.

There it is.. unfortunately the tune that popped in my head when I was writing this song resembles country.. which is definitely not what I was going for. So I'm revising the melody as well.. Any suggestions? opinions? lines? verses? Feel free :)

random/music/love

I have this soft spot in my heart for Bruce Springsteen. To be honest, I'm not one of those fans that knows every single song, or random trivia about him. But I love his music. And his style. He just seems....real.
I remember the day that I first found my mother's Born in the USA cassette and CD (she has both). Popped it in my stereo and...fell in love.
The drumbeats that make you want to start tapping along.
The heartfelt lyrics of typical life. Things that really happen.
The unadulterated American pride.

I still can almost always recognize one of "The Boss"'s songs on the radio, even if I haven't heard it before.

He just has such a distinguishable voice.

My heart sort of does this fluttery/excited/want to dance thing when Bruce comes on the radio. I can't help but smile, and start tapping on the steering wheel.

I love it.
My favorites:
Glory Days
Dancing in the Dark
Born to Run
Working on the Highway
My Hometown
and, of course,
Born in the USA

I Haven't Forgotten

I haven't forgotten.
We're going.
I'm saving.
Next summer.
Let's get going on our languages :D
It's been too long.. this really can't wait any longer or it will slip away from us.
Don't forget :)
P.S. I love music.

Uh.. Girl Power?

Hey Eden.. this blog is for you :)
So I've been listening to a lot of lyrics pretty closely recently and I found some songs that pretty much rock :) Maybe we can take some ideas from these greats.. they also reminded me of things we have late night convos about.. you gotta love it when you realize that other people sometimes feel the same way you do :D
Check em out..

You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift (this one especially made me think of you)
Pitter Pat by Erin Mccarley
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap (one of the coolest songs I've ever heard.. I don't know what you'll think about it though)
Love, Save the Empty by Erin Mccarley (she's one of my newest favorites)
Rain on your Parade by Duffy (kind of a Nate song.. and also from Bride Wars which makes it even better)

So that's it for now.. they're all girls.. whatever that means :D
Listen
Ponder
Call me :D

Let me know what ya think!!
xoxo

p.s. in case anyone actually reads this blog I definitely think you should check those songs out and let me know what ya think! :)
